Merry Christmas Scrapbook Layout

Hi hi!

Another Christmassy one for you today. I was really lucky a few years ago to win a box of Shimelle Christmas Magic goodies from American Crafts. I had already ordered the 6×6 pad (remember those?!) for my 6×8 Christmas album but the big paper pads have different designs so it was great to have both. Some papers work a lot better in the 12×12 than they do in a smaller format and this ledger paper was one of them.

In order to show Santa in the bottom corner in his entirety, and the Santa’s List wording at the opposite corner, there really wasn’t much room for a lot of design deliberation! As usual, I wanted to capture a couple of photos from a few key moments over Christmas to go in my main albums, and of course the mess of the kids opening their presents is always one of those. The turquoise paper that they are mounted is actually a 12×12 that I have cut strategically to have the red border continuing around so that it looks like the exact size for the photos. I’ve hidden the joins under the various embellishments. Sshh! Don’t tell!

I really loved these folding die cuts that Shimelle designed based on an idea by Sassafrass all those years ago. The different elements of the die-cuts are joined together by little tabs so you can fold some parts up and add foam, and then tuck others underneath. Of course you can separate them too and have them as individial pieces. Or, as I’ve done here with the presents, I’ve split them into 2 parts so that I can bring one section down in order to create a corner design.

All that remained after that was to add clusters of wood veneer stars and an epoxy button to finish off. These little sweeties are a lovely finishing touch and I’m wondering now if I can create something similar with the.. ahem.. many buttons I have in my stash. A tiny disc of paper and then filled up with Glossy Accents might be fairly close… hhmmm… something to have a go at!

Stay safe and keep smiling x
