WOYWW 617

Hi hi!

I’m pinching Julia’s first line from last week – “I’ve taken the photograph from a different angle this week, and in bright broad daylight on Tuesday afternoon.” I couldn’t portray the mess without widening the shot to be honest, and this only gives you a glimpse of the floor and the right hand desk with my tea on it (it’s not as precariously balanced as it looks, honestly).

This is a case of “too many things at once-itis”.

I did a little count up and I have 12 different collections on my desk and on the floor behind the pink stool. Some are well used bags, some are layout kits containing a couple of sheets of paper and a set of stickers, some are papers only, but some are paper pads in 2 sizes plus stickers and die cuts. It’s making my left eye twitch.

Lets move around the photo left to right –

Pink ’emergency overflow stool’ with my foam sheets on it, duck egg blue trollies in the background as normal, pink drawer (removed from drawer unit… twitch) containing colour sorted enamel dots, that’s balanced on a pile of bags of assorted collections, actually I think my small trimmer might be under there too. The pile next to it, with the half complete butterfly layout on top is the ‘to be completed’ pile of layouts from the classes this weekend. The rest of the kit is in the white stadium box at the back of the desk with more parts of layouts. The page on the stand is the one I blogged yesterday and there are 4 more behind that ready to go. Front and right is my current project, an interactive page for my final article for The Artistry blog. I’m trying really hard to use Magical Forest and Fresh Bouquet from Crate Paper (that look VERY similar) but honestly, I’m struggling. I was still in my “buy all the things” phase (which ended shortly after that), and I thought the rainbows would be great for Covid scrapping but of course since then, every collection has a rainbow element and this one didn’t have much at all! And I’m not keen on the rest of it! ARGH!

This was my desk last Thursday before I started ‘all the things’.

I definitely work better with my desk like this. If I let go of the reigns a bit I end up trying to do 8 challenges and 8 classes plus 8 additional inspiration examples plus writing an article! It’s an ADHD thing. My husband is always saying to me – do one thing. He’s right, of course, especially for us neurodivergent types, but let’s not tell him.

Finally, last week’s Throwback Thursday and another in the “not like” pile. Again with the stamping… I was also trying to use some Project Life cards that had the same colours as my 6×6 pad and I’m just not used to seeing rounded corners everywhere. I haven’t mounted my photo on anything, because we didn’t then, and so that seems odd to my eye too. It’s funny how I look back on my older layouts and some seem to have aged better than others in terms of how styles have changed.

So that’s me, unusually messy and I will be clearing it up before I do my rounds today. If you want to join in with the weekly snoop you’ll be very welcome, whatever your craft. Link up with Julia at the Stamping Ground and we’ll pop over to see you.

In the meantime, stay safe and keep smiling x

My husband is always saying I should do one thing at a time, but my mind is always racing on, sometimes it’s good to have several things on the go 🙂 Some paper packs are hard to use up. When I made little books for my sister’s class I managed to use most of mine up. I like your layout, do you think styles have changed that much or is it because I haven’t done any for so long I have lost touch? Happy WOYWW and Happy Easter Angela #5

I do like to see a busy (not messy) desk so embrace it – but I like your tidy one too. Great throwback page. Helen #10

I do hope you get all the projects completed Lisa-Jane and the article written. I can’t cope with more than one thing at a time, but I do like crossing things off my to do list. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #9

Lovely layout! I had to laugh at the “pink emergency stool” – I have an emergency floor, I’m afraid. Yes, twinning for sure – that does seem to happen a lot, even if the pairings change from week to week. It’s the joy of our little community, isn’t it? Good luck with all your projects!

Desk hopping on a sunny day!

There’s so many of us that have taken up the opportunity to get a sunny shot of our desk’s, a rare thing in the UK hee hee.. Your desk looks lovely, having more than one project on the go means you can move onto another when it’s drying or you need a little break from thinking about the next step. It’s unheard of for me to just have one in the mix.
That’s a grand layout, happy camping days. Don’t spend too much time cleaning up today.

Well I hardly ever mount my photos and love rounded corners so your LO is tip-top to me! I work better with a tidy desk too, but it does have its moments like you’ve had this week. Hope you get on top of all the projects. BJ#13

I have an emergency dining table, so your stool is in good company, lol! I had to zoom into the pic to see closely what was on your desk, did you ever find the small trimmer?? I’m positive there are crafting back holes in time and space because the amount of times I’ve looked for something and can’t find it anywhere only for it to turn up two days later is suspicious. Pixies maybe…..
I’m sure the welsh house will sell quickly, everything is being snapped up here in BP- I would LOVE to meet up next time you’re down, look forward to it v much,

    Hi Lisa-Jane
I do love your emergency stool! I use the near side of the settee when I’m crafting at table.
I love having several projects on the go at once, too. It keeps life interesting (like crocheting my husband ?).
Take care, stay safe and happy WOYWW

Nice to see busy desk and a tidy desk – both have their merits! Your lighting looks very professional as well! I know what you mean about styles changing but sometimes I like older styles more – and yes, some are timeless – or perhaps were ahead of their time all along! Have a lovely week and happy Easter! xx zsuzsa #22

I love a “busy” desk – we have plenty to snoop at then! xx Jo

Now that’s what I call a busy desk today. It’s so good to see. Have a fun week.

I think I’ve caught the too many things at once-itis too. I think I have a handle on it, and good thing it only happens every so often. Funny thing, it coincides with the “can’t say no syndrome” and it’s contagious! Have a fabulous week! Dorlene #30

It doesn’t take long for a desk to go from tidy to messy, does it, Lisa-Jane! A messy desk means a productive one in my book. I also suffer from toomuchtodoitis at times as well. Sometimes my hubby comes in the kitchen and asks what I’m doing, and I ask him to guess – he never can, because the answer is “multi-tasking” which is a concept he has no understanding of!

    Happy WOYWW,

Lisa Jane, please girlfriend, if you’re going to quote me, can you please use something that is deep, meaningful and life affirming. You may have to read through eleven years of blog posts to find such a thing, but surely I have said more quotable stuff than that?! Also, where to start, I can only do one thing at a time, my head simply won’t let me do it any other way. But I can still work in all my mess, I just do the one thing quite literally on top of whatever I’m not doing! The unfinished number of LOs makes my eye twitch too, but for different reasons. I couldn’t actually move on to the next by leaving unfinisheds. Same but different? Your tea looks as precarious as you think it does, and I think the rounded corner thing is entirely in the eye of the beholder. I don’t love it on the photographs, but it’s ok on the papers. Is that bizarre? Probably, but it’s the best way to work with a trend, huh…just ignore the bits that you don’t really like!!

One thing at a time is sensible but it wont happen Lol! I love to see a busy desk, it shows it’s much loved. Have very happy and creative woyww, Angela x21x

I’ve learned the hard way not to multi-task, especially at my age (60+). That is a very busy desk. Hope you get all done that you need!
    Have a great week!

    Love the layout!
I think I would hate to tell you how many things I have on the go!
My desk goes from clear to heap in minutes.

Lisa-Jane, you are mighty hard on the “throwback Thursday” layouts! Granted, I don’t scrap, so I’m not an expert, but I think your layout looks great!! I totally get what you are saying about looking back at what you have done in days gone by and think to yourself…”what was I thinking?” but we are our worst judges!!! Your desk made me laugh because if we all admit it….ours looks the same….MOST of the time!!! LOL I love your carts in the corner! I have one and would love to have another!! They are so handy!! Thanks for stopping by my desk….I’m a late rounder!!! Have a Happy Easter weekend! Felicia #25

Hi again Lisa-Jane, to answer your question about the teabags: yes, I use white gesso to distress the collaged background. I apply it with a small pallet knife here and there randomly, just lightly touching the surface with very little paint. (You could also use a brayer too but I find that’s better for larger areas, like journal pages). Another technique is to use white splatters with watered down gesso. There’s not much to it really – just prepare your teabags (I sometimes seal them with clear gesso first but it’s not necessary if you start with a layer of collage. My collage usually consists of inked bookpapers, tissue paper, deli paper, gelli prints etc (whatever is lying around, just scraps really) which I stick down with gel medium, then I distress it with some white gesso and add a focal image, found words from book text, that sort of thing. But of course it varies from project to project to make sure they don’t all look the same. Just play round with what you have, you can’t go wrong! xx

Thank you for your return visit, Lisa-Jane, and I agree, my other Lily’s ears are absolutely huge! I got a postcard from them today with 3 pics of her on it (including that one) and it’s now up in the kitchen. I’m getting to love her a lot! As for the kitty throw, I don’t know how long it will take to complete it, as there’s still quite a bit to do, and it does also depend on what else needs doing that takes my time, and available time when my hubby’s not around. Still, I am hoping it will be complete by mid-May, in time for his birthday (it should have been for Christmas!).

Do give the chickpea ranch wraps a try. I happen to adore chickpeas. I do mash them quite a bit so they don’t take up so much room in the wraps – makes them a bit difficult to wrap! They are very tasty.

Hi Lisa-Jane! Love the messy desk, lots of creativity going on! But I also like the clean desk, all ready for a new project! Your throwback layout is lovely, i do like rounded corners. I have a lot of Project Life cards lying around that I need to use. I’ve tried doing project life a few times, but just can’t seem to keep up with it! Thanks for your earlier visit, sorry I’m so late, have a great rest of the week, and Happy Easter! Lindart #28

Thanks for the visit! Love your post today, was almost howling with laughter and nodding my head going ‘oh yes’. The twitching I can emphasise with too. It’s when I actually start hyperventilating I know I need to impose some order. And I spend my life trying to ‘do one thing’. The truth is I work better under some form of pressure, but I really don’t cope well with stress these days so I’ve yet to work out the best way forward – at the moment that seems to be tidying up a lot!! Happy Easter! Have a good week, stay well, stay safe, love n hugs Cindy xx #23

wait a minute… the buy all the things phase is supposed to have an end date? ( ha, could not resist you made me nod my head and smile) I have those piles hiding in the closet ha ha. I love how pretty all the colors are on your table and around your space Lisa Jane, and I was surprised to see your shooting lights so close to your work space. ( I’d splatter mine with paint or ink if they were there I think) but, then my table is not near the window either so. just a funny odd thought. Happy late WOYWW ~Stacy #26

I know what you mean, I’m always starting something and then starting something else…this week, of should i say last week, its between the garden and the craft room and both are now in a bit of a mess! I had a bit of a spray paint in the craft room, then thought I might spray the fence too…not with the same paint though! Stay safe, keep crafting! Happy very Late last weeks WOYWW!? ((Lyn))#6
