WOYWW 620

Hi hi!

It’s really outside type weather isn’t it? But here is my inside-desk for ‘What’s on Your Workdesk Wednesday‘ nonetheless.

With a lot of rest in between and regular anti-inflammatories, I can manage a little bit of crafting now – huzzah! It has done wonders for my mental health I can tell you, even if I do say naughty words when my ‘timer’ runs out and I aggravate my tendonitis too much. One of the things that really sets it off is twisting my wrist, in particular to pick up and put down my ATG, so Mr Pretty has given me the heavy plant pot on the right hand side to act as a stand – ta da, no twisting! You can also see my hand cream in there too to remind me to use it every time I sit down.

You can also see my jungle water bottle there as usual but I’m making a concerted effort to drink a whole one every day. Water, hand cream, soothing breathing exercises, daily walks or gardening and a little bit of crafting, are all snippets of self care that are keeping me going.

I wonder if anyone can guess what I’m making here? The photo is the view from the barn we normally go to in March for our scrappy retreat. The layout is one of the classes from a recent Go Go virtual retreat that I didn’t manage to do ‘live’. I wasn’t in the right headspace for instructions and I’m learning to go with what the brain wants and adapt accordingly. If I had been there in person, as planned, I wouldn’t have felt that I could change course like I did at home, so that was one benefit of the event having to go virtual.

Well, will you look at that?! Self care, learning to adapt, finding the positives – all good stuff huh?! And I have booked a trip to Wales in a couple of weeks too (sadly to put the cottage back on the market) so there’s even things to look forward to as well.

I’ve had a break from Instagram because of my hand (which didn’t affect my driving, please don’t worry that I was driving one handed or in pain – it was a good position for my achey limb). So, instead of my normal #throwbackthursday I will leave you with my tote bag (well not actually leave you with it, you have to give it back, it’s just for show).

It’s quite clever, it looks like a normal tote bag but it opens out (as shown) so you can get to both sides (and build a barrier to other people at crops…) I’ve now positioned it at the back of my desk, partly to keep things in easy reach and prevent repetitive movements, and also to stop things falling off the back… I took these photos a few weeks ago but you can see from my desk shot that it needs a tidy up. The triangle tiger / pig thingies are book marks made by Miss B that actually work really well – I just need to move them to an actual book…

Well that’s me for this week. Put the kettle on crafty friends, I’m on my way. In the meantime, stay safe and keep smiling x

That is a useful tote bag Lisa-Jane. Glad to hear that you are managing to do some crafting at least. Look forward to seeing the finished layout. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #?

I’m so glad that your tendinitis has improved enough for you to do some crafting, hooray! I think that tote bag is fantastic, sure you can’t fit a bit more in though, lol. ;-D
I do hope we can meet up when you’re in Wales, we’ll have to arrange something!

Glad you are feeling up to something arty. Life is a dismal place without that outlet, isn’t it? Love the tote, so useful. Sensible you knew your head was not in a project and delayed. I would have carried on, made something I wasn’t happy with, and eventually probably trashed it. Well done you!
Sidetracked momentarily by a new project but determined to visit ALL today! 😀

The tote looks very useful indeed! Hope you get full use of your hands back soon – I would really struggle with using just one! Happy WOYWW! xx zsuzsa #15

Good that you are managing to craft a bit nowadays. I think I need to go to Specsavers! Try as i might I could not see the plant pot or the handcream – found the water bottle. I do see a yellow arm that looks like my ATG gun so maybe it is off-side?
Lisa, if you come up north you will find it is a wee bit cold. Too cold to do anything but a brisk walk, well wrapped up at the moment here.

Lisa Jane, LOVE the tote bag. What a clever idea for crops!! I have never been to one, so I am so extremely jealous of you all who have been to those. Not sure what you are making on your desk, I would take a stab at it, but I think I would be totally embarrassed, so I will just shut it! LOLOL Hope things get better with your hands real soon! Oh, I would be so put out with that! Plus, NOTHING would get done at my house if it were so, my kids are shleps and would leave me to fend for myself! LOLOL Plus, not being able to craft comfortably would be sad!!! Hope it gets better soon. Thanks so much for stopping in on my blog and your well wishes!! Take care! Felicia #21

This is a very painful problem at times and I hope you get some rest from it. Loving the tote bag but then I am a bit of a bag women which is how I got the name “Felix the Crafty Cat”. You take care and have a very happy creative woyww, Angela x12x

So glad you’re getting crafting time as a benefit of not crafting. Makes sense to me. See, when you can’t craft, read a book and then you can use the lovely corner bookmark. I’ve met those tote bags at crops..those of us that are deaf find them a mighty stumbling block to cross desk convo, but I can see the attraction of double bubble without effort. I hope you don’t push back so much it falls of the desk! I know it won’t help particularly, but I stand my ATG gun on its flat top edge, handle up. Never felt the need for a holder.

Ooh I hope your hand is healing quickly and that is a totally cool tote, most of the ones I caved on over the years are like little black holes, I like that you can see through the pockets a lot. 🙂 umm guess hunh? Ok, you are going to countersink the photo and do some journaling about the retreat. ~Stacy #25 (and no, I didn’t read anyone else’s comments)

So sorry to hear how much you’ve been suffering with your hand, LIsa-Jane, but it does sound as if you are organising things to help minimise the pain and unnecessary movements – well done. I adore that tote! I’ve got a “thing” for “baggies” of all descriptions and anything like that tempts me to break the Tenth Commandment (“Thou shalt not covet”)!!

Thank you for your visit. After I’d included that video, the owner of it suddenly withdrew it for some inexplicable reason! Most annoying – it was the cutest thing ever… Anyway, I’ve removed it now as it was useless. What a shame. Like you, I love hellebores – they are so unusual and pretty. That Thai curry is worth making – it’s deeelicious!

    Happy WOYWW,

It’ll be nice to do a bit of crafting outside once the weather warms up again. Only thing is I’m forever jumping up moving stuff round, especially in the rusty garden haha.
    Glad you’re on the mend

HI Lisa-Jane! To answer your question, yes the tack-it-over and over is to stick the stamp to an acrylic block, and they also stick nicely to the photo keeper pages! I love your bag, everything so organized! I feel your tendonitis pain, I went for a long time with so much tendonitis that I couldn’t hold a pen for longer than a minute or so before my hand went numb. That’s when I had to move my journal writing to the computer. I also had to write reports every week for school which I also had to move to the computer. But it has somehow healed itself over the years, and I don’t have any problems with it now, thankfully. Thanks for your visit, have a great week! Lindart #27
