WOYWW 621

Hi hi

Good morning, good yawning! I’m finally in the jab club so feeling a little fragile but not half as bad as I expected (I tend to overreact to everything…). That is my excuse, and I’m sticking to it, as to why this week’s desk is devoid of craft. I’m getting some photos and then potential kits ready for the weekend, which is (Inter) National Scrapbooking Day (and also Naked Gardening Day but we’re still experiencing morning frosts here so I might forego that event, thanks. You’re welcome…)

There will be hundreds of challenges over the weekend and of course you never know what they will be so if you’re looking to support certain groups or businesses, or playing for entry to prize draws, you can’t really decide what to get ready in advance! Prepping a few “kits” that cover various themes, colours, moods etc isn’t fail safe of course but it might stop some of the faff and indecisiveness – “can I do this challenge with the kits I have prepped?” No? Then move on to the next.

Talking of kits, last week’s desk showed a work in progress from a class kit from Go Go and you can see the finished layout here. Nobody could guess what I was making but it was actually a bunny bow – yes, a bow that formed a bunny face for a Spring layout!

At the end of last week my final article for The Artistry Blog went live (although they want me to do some more). You can read all the articles by clicking here. This final one was all about interactive pages and although it is a single page layout it has lots of flaps and pockets so that you can fit a lot of info in.

“Our Story” in this case is about 9/11 and our subsequent decision to go travelling for a year. Somebody did ask me if that’s what I really meant a few weeks ago and it is indeed. We rented out our house, sold our two cars, the cats went to stay with a friend, I took a career break from the police and my husband left his job. We got an open jaw ticket that allowed us to travel one way around the world with 5 flights included, arriving back where we started exactly a year later. Happy days! And yes, definitely before children, which reminds me of a few more stories that need telling about that time…

And finally we have last week’s Throwback Thursday which was created about 4-5 years ago using Simple Stories So Rad.

I can definitely recognise this as one of mine as it’s not too dissimilar to how I scrap now with the clusters and layers and groups of 3 enamel dots. I do tend to mount my photos onto a narrow white border now though. Talking of photos, I’d better get back to my weekend planning. I’d love to know if you’ve got a strategy for challenge events and if you’ll be joining in with NSD at all. In the meantime, stick the kettle on and I’ll come over and see you via our lovely WOYWW host, Julia.

Stay safe and keep smiling x

I always enjoyed NSD. But lately I have so fallen off the scrapbook bandwagon. It comes and goes. Your layouts are always inspiring – and your mention of interactive layouts reminds me of one I did ( not sure if your blog will allow a link but at least you might see it, which is really the point https://scrappystickyinkymess.wordpress.com/2014/01/14/flexagon-layout/ ) that I still really love. Makes me want to do one now! Ah, the power of WOYWW. Off to check out your link now…
ATC backs for the 12th to download on my blog 🙂

I do intend to do some NSD stuff, but haven’t a plan or a strategy to my name. Never ever make up kits anymore. All the time I’m making the kit I feel I’m pretty close to making the LO, so I do. Even for crops I’d rather bring everything than kit in advance because then it’s just an exercise in sticking and I would be bored in minutes. How’s that for an excuse? Want to hear more of your round the world trip. Also want to assure everyone that although I intend to spend some time creosoting the fences this weekend, I will not be doing it in anywhere near the spirit of naked gardening day!

Great collection of LO’s. Looks like you’ll be well organised for the weekend too. I’m trying to forget about the garden for a while but it keeps shouting at me! Take care and happy creative woyww, Angela x14x

I can’t think of anything worse than naked gardening – all those thorns, ooooh, nasty! To say nothing of the prickles……. ;-D. What a brilliant story about the gap years you had told me before but I didn’t know some of the details, what an absolute brilliant thing to do, you must be so pleased you did it! Gorgeous colours and patterns again this week, you really do fab LOs

Hi Lisa-Jane, omg didn’t realise it’s gong to be Naked Gardening day as well – think I’ll be sticking with International Scrapbooking Day personally! 🙂 Planning to join the GoGo cyber crop, so might “see” you there. I love the page with all the flaps and pockets, looks really pretty and it’s great to have spaces for hidden journalling cos I hate my writing, or maybe those photos I don’t like so much but need to be included 🙂 Have a great week. No naked gardening for me today, it might be sunny but it’s still cold! Plants are out, only for the day, then they argue who’s going in doors and who’s going in the potting shed, just remembered, hanging baskets are in the van… Have fun sorting your photos, that trip sounded brilliant! Stay safe! Keep crafting! Happy WOYWW!? ((Lyn)) #8

wow your round the world trip sounds like such an adventure. Love your LO and I am sure you will have fun on NSD and like you I do think a bit or organising can help you achieve so much on the day. Have fun and I look forward to hearing how it all went.

Naked gardening – not for me at any time of the year ?. I can’t imagine a two year trip. 3 months away in the caravan seems lone enough! Happy WOYWW Angela #16

A lovely busy desk, Lisa-Jane, and some great layouts. I love castles! Thank you for your visit. I laughed at you being permanently gingered up hahaha!! Lol! Brilliant. I love ginger hair! Before I was married I used to attend a church (where we actually got married too) and there was a family of redheads there – Mum and Dad and three little ones, all fiery red! When they sat in the pew in front of me I always felt as if I was looking into an orange box! Another family we knew, Mum and Dad and kids 1 & 2 were all blond, and then later on 2 more little girls arrived, both as carroty as you could imagine, and nobody could think where that came from!

    Happy WOYWW,

Ooh what an amazing thing you did, I am just in awe. 🙂 and nope, I have not actually scrapped in years. ( I still have everything but, mostly I stamp and lately I have been playing with watercolor paints. So scrapping has taken a vacation) ~Stacy #25

Even if the sun was cracking the flags I would not be naked in my garden. The thoughts of this old body of mine on show – ugh! Definitely one for the young.
Enjoyed your milni story of the ‘year off’ – you should write it up in more detail and have a section for it in your blog. It would be great to read all about it and the places you visited.
Love your bunny bow – had to look to see what you meant as I don’t understand all this scrapbooking terminology.
Enjoy the weekend, whatever your decide to do.
    Hugs, Neet 2 xx

Hi. Your trip sounded amazing, you are much braver than we are. Our brave was going to Australia for just over a month. We stayed with a friend for 2 nights in Adelaide, collected our son in Horsham then travelled , by car up to Brisbane, stopping along the way as and when and finding places to stay en route. We also went over to NZ to visit friends. Not sure I could travel like that now 🙂
    Love the layouts. 🙂 Anne x 19
